Major differences between Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro?

Google Pixel 7 vs Pixel 7 Pro cameras

Let’s look at the obvious difference first. The Google Pixel 7 as well as the Pixel 7 Pro both feature a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP ultrawide lens with f/2.2, however, the Pixel 7 Pro is equipped with a 48MP telephoto camera for zooming in further.

The Pixel 7 Pro offers 5x optical zoom along with up to 30x Super Res Zoom, the 30x being the digital zoom. The Pixel 7 is equipped with 8x Super Res Zoom. Not just that, the Pixel 7 Pro also benefits from a wider field of view at 125.8 degrees, whereas the Pixel has fov of 114°.

The advanced ultra-wide lens on the Pixel 7 Pro gives the Pixel 7 Pro the ability to Macro Focus, this mode can be used for enhanced close-up shots. However, both the Pixel models have a faster Night Sight mode as well as the Photo Unblur for producing sharper shots.

If you compare the video front, the Pixel 7 as well as the Pixel 7 Pro sport a new Cinematic Blur mode to add more depth to the footage while blurring out the background. This is similar to the iPhone’s Cinematic mode, however, not quite on the iPhone’s level. On top of that due to the 10-bit HDR support, the quality should be top-notch on both Pixels.

The front camera on the Pixel 7 as well as the Pixel 7 Pro is a 10.8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture and 92.8° ultrawide field of view.

Displays and Face Unlock

The glaring difference between the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro is the size. The Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch display while the Pixel 7 Pro comes with a much larger 6.7-inch display. The Pixels also get a difference in resolution, yes, they are both OLED displays, however, while the Pixel 7 has a Full HD+ resolution, the 7 Pro has a sharper Quad HD+ panel.

Both the Pixels also have a slight difference in their aspect ratios, the Pixel 7 has a 20:9 screen whereas the 7 Pro has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Pixel 7 is rated to have brightness of 1000 nits (HDR) and 1,400 nits of peak brightness. While the Pixel 7 Pro is rated for 1,000 nits for HDR content, however, but the peak brightness is higher at 1,500 nits.

Thankfully, both the Pixels have an always-on display as well as Face Unlock support.

Specifications

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by Google’s new Tensor G2 chip, this chip promises advanced machine learning capabilities as well as computational photography powers. The Pixel 7 comes with 8GB of RAM, however, the Pixel 7 Pro increases it to 12GB.

In terms of storage, the Pixel 7’s base version comes with 128GB or you can upgrade to 256GB with extra costs, while the Pixel 7 Pro’s base version offers 128GB, while it can be upgraded to 256GB and 512GB at extra costs. Unfortunately, the Pixel 7 Pro does not offer any 1TB option.

Battery and charging

The Pixel 7 is backed by a 4,355 mAh battery whereas the Pixel 7 Pro features a larger 5,000 mAh battery. Google says both phones can last roughly up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver turned on.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro both support up to 30W fast wired charging, which in all honesty, cannot even be termed fast, it’s just borderline passable. However, the wireless charging max speed varies. The Pixel 7 can charge up to 21W with the latest Pixel Stand, while the Pixel 7 Pro can reach the speed of 23W charging.

Price

The Google Pixel 7 starts at a very affordable price of $599 / £599 / AU$999 for the base variant of 128GB of storage, it goes up to $699 / £699 / AU$1,129 for the 256GB storage variant. The Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899 / £849 / AU$1,299 for the base variant with 128GB storage, and you will have to pay around $100 more for each storage upgrade, so that adds up to $999 / £949 / AU$1,449 for 256GB and 512GB for $1,099 / AU$1,599.
