Signing out of your Apple ID on a device is as important as Signing in. Signing out allows you to maintain privacy and helps you cover your tracks. Thus, it is essential in terms of privacy as well as security. Many iPhone users complain and report regarding the issue of Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available Due to Restrictions. Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available Due to Restrictions  

Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and Mac along with other Apple devices use an authentication method called Apple ID, which contains the personal information as well as settings of the user.  Signing out is a very important thing in an account, regardless of what account or which device it is, be it an Android or an iPhone. Signing in allows you to access the features, whereas signing out allows you to maintain privacy while covering your actions and tracks.   

Why Is Apple ID Sign Out Not Available?  

Do you wish to know what is meant when the “Sign Out is Not Available due to Restrictions” message is displayed? This message means that due to some restrictions; you are not able to sign out of your iCloud account. This cause of the message could be due to many reasons, for example, if the sign-out option is Greyed out, it might have got stuck in a never-ending loop of sign out which keeps on spinning or loading. Or, when the phone is being restored or whenever the verification fails. See below what the mentioned causes mean in detail.    

What are the Reasons for Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available?  

To put the aforementioned reasons in perspective:   

  • The Sign Out option is Greyed out: – When you navigate to Settings > iCloud on your device, the Sign Out button will appear to be greyed out, accompanied by the statement Sign-out is not available due to restrictions.  
  • It Got Stuck on “Sign Out”: – The spinning icon appears to indicate that it is working on completing the process when you click “sign out” to sign out Apple ID, however, the spinning never stops, like a never-ending loop.  
  • When your Phone is being Restored: – The error message “you can’t sign out your Apple ID because your phone is being restored” will appear when you try to sign out your Apple ID by tapping on “sign out.” 
  • When there is a verification failure: – The warning “Verification Failed – There was an error connecting to iCloud” will appear after you enter your password to sign out of iCloud on your iPhone.  

How To Fix Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available?   

Now that we understand what is the reason for the issue of Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available, it is time to talk about how to fix the Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available   

Restart the Device –   

As we all know, restarting any device mostly fixes the majority of device-related problems. Restarting a device is the basic as well as the simplest way to fix any technical issue related to the device. So, give it a shot. You can restart the device by pressing, then holding the “Power” button. Then swipe the slider to the end to switch off the device. Then after a few seconds press the “Power” button again to turn your device back on.  

You obviously would’ve thought of restarting your device to get rid of the problem, reading the whole article to know the same trick doesn’t make sense, thankfully, we have other tricks you can try.    

Reset The Device to Factory Settings –  

You can reset all the settings on your iPhone by navigating to “Settings”> “General”> “Reset”> “Reset All Settings,” then type in your screen passcode.   

You can reset the device to factory settings by visiting the “Settings”> “General”> “Reset”> Erase All Content and Settings,” then type in your iCloud password.   

Resetting the iPhone’s settings or resetting the device to its Factory Settings might have a high chance of solving the issue of Apple ID Sign Out Not Available. However, resetting the device to factory settings will make you lose all of your data, so make sure you have a backup before you take this step.   

Change the Internet Connection –  

The cause of Apple ID Sign Out Is Not Available might be attributed to a poor connection. To Sign Out, you will need a stable as well as a good internet connection. So, try using high-speed internet or using Wi-Fi or a router to Sign Out, this might fix the issue. You can also try changing the internet connection by enabling mobile data whenever an issue arises with Wi-Fi or vice versa.   

Check The Backup Settings Of ICloud –  

The error message “You cannot sign out your Apple ID because your phone is being restored” might be displayed when you try to sign out when your iPhone is in the restoring phase. If you spot this message then, you have two options, either you can cancel the restoring action. Or, you can let it complete the restore function fully, then try again.   

You can do this by navigating to settings> [name banner at top] > iCloud > iCloud Backup, canceling it, or waiting for it to restore the apps completely.   

Turn Off the Restrictions –  

You cannot remove an Apple ID in some instances, you can’t sign out when you allow certain restrictions on your phone. The restrictions will disable the ability to sign out sometimes.    

Disable them by –  

Visit settings>Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions> Disable the option at the top if you are using iOS 12 or later.   

Visit settings> General > Restrictions > Accounts> Allow Changes, if you happen to be using iOS 11 or earlier.
