How to Retrieve Deleted Texts on a Samsung Phone?

Did you lose all your text messages for some reason, don’t worry as there are several ways you can recover them. Modern smartphones, especially from tech giants like Samsung, come with several failsafe options to prevent such problems.

In the majority of cases, you can retrieve your deleted messages without having to hook your Samsung phone to a computer. In this article, I will provide you few different methods you can use to recover deleted texts on your Samsung phone.

Ways to Retrieve Deleted Texts on a Samsung Phone

1. You can Restore from Samsung Cloud or Google Drive

Samsung has a built-in cloud service that regularly backs up your messages as well as other information. Using this you can easily view all the data that has been backed up, to do so go into Settings, then Accounts and Backup.

Here, you will be able to see all the accounts where your information is being backed up. In most cases, it will be Samsung Cloud or Google Drive, or it could be both.

Simply tap on Restore Data your phone will ask you to select the backup you wish to restore. After you tap on the most recent backup your phone will automatically restore all lost messages.

This is by far the safest as well as the easiest method that one can use to recover deleted texts on a Samsung phone. Unless you change the setting or choose not to back up, your Samsung device usually automatically backs up your data on a regular basis, this means that you will not lose many messages when you restore.

2. You can Restore Using Samsung Smart Switch

Samsung Smart Switch is a simple choice if you wish to recover your deleted texts. If you happen to already have a backup on your PC, Mac, or some other mobile device, you could simply restore it.

You need to click on Receive Data from the app, and it will prompt you to select a backup source. After you select a backup device, just follow the on-screen instructions to quickly restore the backup.

3. Try to Contact Your Service Provider

If you are using AT&T, Verizon, or any other major carrier service, there might be a chance for you to recover your deleted text messages. Let’s take AT&T, for example, it has a dedicated solution known as AT&T Backup & Sync that can be used to automatically back up messages to the cloud.

It is relatively safe, privacy-wise, and the best part is that it does not cost anything extra. The service automatically copies all the text messages into the cloud. If you wish you can simply access the AT&T Messages portal to seamlessly sync your messages across devices, then restore a backup.

What if you are using other service providers? Then it might be a wise idea to contact them directly. Few service providers in some countries might be able to restore messages for up to a month or more. Since they often keep records on encrypted servers, there is a chance for backup. If you block messages on Android from senders then you might receive those as well, as they are pushed from the carrier.

Note – Keep in mind that some service providers might request extra charges or fees for restoring your messages, and you will not get your full backup.

Can you Use a Third-Party Recovery Program?

There are plenty of third-party software solutions that claim to have the ability to recover deleted messages, few are available through the Play Store, while others have to be side-loaded.

I would not recommend using any such third-party solutions, because it is that some of them require you to root your Samsung phone (if you do so, it will void your warranty or open your phone up to rooting malware), whereas others are paid solutions that very rarely work. There have also been cases where people ended up with malware on their computers or devices when they try to download some of these so-called recovery programs.

If a program claims to miraculously recover all your deleted messages and doesn’t cost a penny, it is as it sounds, it is probably too good to be true. It is generally not a wise idea to use such programs, as they often do not work, and can also steal sensitive information from your device, which will leave you disappointed and frustrated.

Synopsis- Always Back Up Your Messages and Other Information

Nowadays, almost all sensitive or important information is stored in the cloud, thankfully, with Samsung Cloud or Google Drive, it is very easy to save your data in Cloud.

The frequency with which the messages are backed up is up to you (once a day works pretty fine), and it might be a wise idea to review the settings after every few months. Samsung also has spam filters built in, so you can easily block text messages on your device to prevent annoying messages from appearing on your screen.
