What Is Google Meet? How Does It Work?

Google Meet is built to host dozens of people in virtual meetings, to speak or share videos with each other all around the globe. It’s used by businesses, organizations, it’s a great way for colleagues to communicate. The Google Meet organizer can share their screen with everyone on the call. Any participant can turn in their own audio and/or video at any time, participating however they like.

How much Does Google Meet cost?

If you want to set up and host a Google Meet session, you require a paid G Suite account. The basic level costs around $6 a month. However, anyone who has a standard Google account can join and participate in Google Meet meetings.

G Suite does have different membership tiers, depending on your subscription. The number of people you can have in your meet will vary.

  • G Suite Basic– $6 a month per user. Grants the ability to host up to 25 people at once.
  • G Suite Business– $12 a month per user. Grants the ability to host up to 50 people at once.
  • G Suite Enterprise– $25 a month per user. Grants the ability to host up to 100 people.

Each G Suite tier also comes with extra Google Drive storage as well as data security options.

How can we join a Google Meet call?

You can join a Google Meet session by using a code that’s created when the organizer schedules the meeting. Tap on Use a meeting code on either the Meet mobile app or a Google Meet on a computer. As soon as you enter the code, if the session has started, you’ll join it. The creator of the meeting can send a direct link, which as the name suggests provides a direct entry to the meeting.

Just like for any other application, you need to allow Google Meet to access your phone or your computer’s camera and microphone. If you liked this, leave a comment below or share it with friends, so that they also know what Google meet is and how it works.
