What Is the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway?

The HGTV Dream Home Giveaway is an annual sweepstake from the Scripps Network’s Home and Garden Television channel. This is being run since 1997. Each year, HGTV uses a series of HGTV Dream Home television specials to showcase a gorgeous new home that the experts have built, which is to be given away. The Dream Home winners receive prize packages including the house, cash, a car, as well as more which total between 1 and 3 million dollars!

Since its inception in 1997, the HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes has grown into one of America’s biggest as well as the most popular giveaways. How many people usually enter the sweepstakes? The number has been rising every year so far. In 1998, 2.5 million entries were received, however, the 2022 HGTV Dream Home winner’s name was chosen from over 142 million entries, the highest in HGTV Dream Home history!

Where is the 2022 HGTV smart home?

HGTV had unveiled its Smart Home 2022 in Wilmington. While it was getting ready to open up the drawing, which would give away the home, a new car, and $100,000 to some lucky winner at the end of the summer.

Tiffany Brooks, the home’s designer along with Holly Overton, part of the building group that constructed the home, stated that it was a whirlwind process and that they cannot believe it came to a close.

“Building a house is like having a baby, then having to hand it away at the end,” Brooks commented. “That’s what I call these smart homes because only one lucky winner gets it all.”

Brooks has been working with HGTV since 2013 when she won a design competition as well as a contract with the network. However, Charter Building Group out of Wilmington was surprised and was also honored to be chosen as the local contractor to create the HGTV Smart home 2022.

What happens if you win the HGTV Smart Home?

Each year’s HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes winner receives the home itself, along with all of the artwork as well as furnishings inside the home, coupled with a big cash prize, as well as a new vehicle. Sometimes, there are additional prizes are included as well, like a doggie dream home for pets or a new boat for waterfront properties.

The total prize value of the sweepstakes routinely reaches $2 million or more.

In some years, the winner had been given the option of choosing a cash prize instead of taking possession of the Dream Home itself. If the winner had chosen the cash option, they would receive the associated prizes like the vehicles, cash, as well as furnishings, however, HGTV would retain the rights to the house. If that happens, they usually sell the home to a private bidder.

Who won HGTV Smart Home 2022?

An Overland Park mom won her dream home!

Karey Wolstenholm has been named the winner of the 2022 HGTV Dream Home located in Warren, Vermont. This 3,090-square-foot home has three bedrooms along with three-and-a-half bathrooms, it also comes with all of the furnishings.

The total prize package is valued at over $2.4 million, which also includes a 2022 Grand Wagoneer along with $250,000 from Rocket Mortgage.

Wolstenholm, who owns a print and promotional product company, was chosen as the winner from more than 142 million entries that entered the Dream Home sweepstakes. HGTV said that she had entered the sweepstakes every day, twice a day for almost two months this winter. And, it turns out that this isn’t the first time she has done so.

“I have entered every day for the past 10 years to every home, and people have laughed at me for it,” Wolstenholm had told HGTV.
