Tesla is known for making electric cars that are sleek and environmentally friendly. However, the latest news on the Tesla Model S Plaid Fire incident raises concerns. One such incident happened in Haverford, Pennsylvania, while it was parked outside a restaurant, trapping the driver inside until firefighters arrived. Luckily, no one was injured in this incident, as they were able to escape from the vehicle on their own before it became engulfed by flames.

Some speculate that this is due to the battery malfunctioning. Tesla has not yet released a statement on what caused this incident, and whether it will affect future production of Model S Plaids. We’ll have to wait and see if there are any updates in regard to the cause of these fires before we can be sure about how much damage they may do to Tesla’s reputation as an environmentally friendly company with a sleek design aesthetic.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is getting information about the incident, as a high-end Model S Plaid caught fire.

“NHTSA is aware of the Tesla Model S Plaid fire in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania; and the agency is in touch with relevant agencies and the manufacturer to gather information about the incident,” spokeswoman Lucia Sanchez said. “If data or investigations show a defect or an inherent risk to safety exists, NHTSA will take action as appropriate to protect the public.”

The driver of the car is being represented by Mark Geragos. In a telephone interview with CNN, Mr. Geragos called for Tesla to take models S Plaids off the road. “This is a harrowing and frightening situation and an obvious major problem,” Geragos said in a statement. “Our preliminary investigation is ongoing, but we call on Tesla to sideline these cars until a full investigation can occur.”

Explaining about the incident, “He’s in the car, he smells and sees the smoke, turns around and sees the smoke is filling up the cabin, then flames,” Geragos said. “He reacts almost immediately. The door malfunctions, he gets out of his car somehow as others are still trying to escape from their cars alive.”

Tesla Model S Plaid details

Tesla’s newest fully electric vehicle, the Model S Plaid, is the first with a long-range battery that can travel more than 350 kilometers on one charge. The all-wheel-drive sedan has been tested across Europe and North America in extreme heat and cold to ensure it meets the highest safety standards anywhere in the world.

At an exclusive launch event hosted at Tesla headquarters last week, CEO Elon Musk told reporters “the car you see here today does not represent any trade-off of range or performance for design,” noting that this tesla would be “unlike anything else.” He also said that while customers will have access to different versions of tesla’s latest model, from rear-wheel-drive models to all-wheel-drive models.

A Tesla spokesperson is yet to comment on this incident. We will update this space with more updates soon.
