The New Google Flights Feature Is Perfect for Travelers with Flexibility

The world of Google is a pretty amazing place. It is not just used as a search engine to extract random info; travelers also know and adore Google Flights for scoping out the best possible deals. Recently, it received an upgrade; which makes budget travel even better.

If you used Google Flights previously, you might have filtered your search by entering a specific date, using the date grid to receive an estimate of the flight’s cost. You might have even toggled on the “track prices” feature to deal alerts for specific dates that were sent directly to your inbox. If you were not set on flying on any particular day and just wanted to find the best deal possible, you might have set up multiple alerts to look over the airfare rates for a range of dates.

Google‘s new feature caters to those who want to visit a specific location, whilst having some flexibility in their travel schedule. Now when you are tracking flights, you can toggle the “any dates” slide-toggle to get notified when the prices for your trip happen to drop.

If you are thinking, “Wait, that’s going to inundate my inbox.” With Google’s AI, however, you’re unlikely to receive notifications for every low-fare flight, you will receive those which are similar to your original search. Say, you were on the hunt for a five-day trip to Paris during spring, then you would be receiving alerts for a three- to five-day trip during the spring months, and not a 10-day trip in the summer/fall.

Also, the “any dates” feature does not work for all of the destinations. For example, when searching for a trip from Richmond to Madrid, the toggle button couldn’t be spotted, however, it was present when searching up flights from New York to Madrid. However, for most routes, the new feature is available.

This might not be ideal if you have a super-specific time frame, but if you’re looking to use up some PTO. Or. Working remotely in another city or country is pretty handy.
