Gas prices are going through the roof right now. No matter where you are living, the gas prices are going up. That means that whenever you go out to fill up, it is best to know exactly where the best prices are. Fortunately, Google Maps is not just good to help find new restaurants as well as places to ride your bike. There is also a pretty handy gas price feature in Google Maps, which allows you to view current prices as well as where they are.

How to find gas prices in Google Maps?

Google Maps is cross-platform, meaning it can be used on most devices. Across devices, the features are mostly the same, which is especially true for the “Gas” feature. Follow the steps to use it on your device.

For Android or iOS apps

On Android as well as iOS devices, the steps are very straightforward to look for gas in your area.

  • First, Open Google Maps on your iOS or Android device.
  • Tap on the Gas tile at the top, this is under the search bar.
  • The device will automatically look for gas in your area, you have the ability to move to a new area as well as tap Search the area to find gas prices farther away.
  • To change the parameters, you have to tap on the preferences slider at the top, this is under the search bar. You can choose hours of operation along with special filters, for example, wheelchair accessibility.
  • Then, tap on Apply.

From here, you will be able to look around the area you selected, you can also tap on any gas station on the map for further information. Not all gas stations will be displaying prices, so you might have to scroll through the available ones from the bottom. After you choose one, tap on it, then you can either get directions, call, or you can also share it further. If you happen to have a specific gas station in mind, you can always search for that station, then tap on it to display the listing. From the listing that appears, you can view the prices.

Tip: If you tap on View List, you will be able to compare the prices better.

This is a great tool that can be used by anyone, even if gas is not pricey in your area. This feature despite being built right into apps we use all the time is the one that is overlooked and forgotten often. So, the next time you are heading out, you can look at the gas price feature on Google Maps. You might be caught off-guard looking at the better prices you never knew about.
