Bed bugs got their name from their habit of taking refuge in beds, also due to their feeding on humans while sleeping. As Bed bugs feed only on blood, they must have regular blood meals if they want to survive and develop. Humans haven’t bedded bugs’ only targets, these will also attack many warm-blooded animals

Bed bugs can be found in any location where humans spend extended time, it is important to be on the lookout for bed bugs if you are using public transportation or if you are sitting in public spaces like libraries. In particular, thoroughly inspect the hotel rooms before you sleep in a bed. Make sure you check the bed sheets for tell-tale blood spots or sightings of bugs or maybe even eggshells.

You can use a small flashlight to assist with the visual inspections. Bed bugs travel easily, so vacuum suitcases. Also, inspect for any signs of bed bugs when you return from any sort of vacation. Make sure you wash your clothes on hot cycles once you return home, including those that aren’t worn.

Make sure you always examine second-hand furniture, especially if it is mattresses and box springs, before bringing them in. Having a pest control professional inspect the furniture is suggested, as it is difficult to detect an infestation.

Though the bite is painless at the time of the attack, many people develop an allergic reaction to the saliva from the bite. This is what causes bites to turn red, itchy, and swollen. These Bites are commonly found in a pattern or small clusters. This can act as an indication that these bites are from bed bugs and not from a different pest.

Few humans never have any sort of reaction to these bites, making it harder to identify any bed bug infestation. Humans can reach a point where they no longer have a reaction or their reaction may become more severe after extended exposure.
