Have you ever faced difficulty in showing your delicious cheesecake recipe in just a minute? Or can you upload the right eyeliner tutorial within a timespan of one minute? Is one minute enough to end a motivational story? Well, fret not. Tik Tok got you covered finally. Tik Tok is a great platform to showcase your talents and entertaining videos everything within a minute. But this is going to add to the company’s new announcement on Thursday about their launch of longer videos to everyone.
TikTok, a short video app limited to 60 seconds allowing users to use other filters and music has become quite popular during pandemic times. The longer video has been on test since last December when their social media consultant Matt Navarra tweeted in December about the early access to the three-minute video for only a few people. This was limited to only top Tik Tokers in the beginning then in a few weeks was made available for everyone.
TikTok comments on Longer videos format:
TikTok’s product manager Drew Kirchhoff wrote in a blog post “With longer videos, creators will have the canvas to create new or expanded types of content on TikTok, with the flexibility of a bit more space.” He also added,” a little more time to bring their cooking demos, elaborate beauty tutorials, educational lesson plans, and comedic sketches to life with TikTok’s creative tools.”

The Chinese ByteDance owned Tiktok whose success gave rise to many platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat’s Spotlight. The company is unclear on how these three-minute videos are going to bring a change in the much-recommended algorithm but looking at YouTube’s strategy favoring its algorithm to viewer retention, means lengthier videos like ten minutes or more. Advertisers are hoping that with longer videos people stay on the page longer. Let’s see how this rolls out.
