DuckDuckGo: The search engine that poses a threat to Google

DuckDuckGo is an alternative search engine that doesn’t track you or your searches. The company has been around for over 10 years, but it’s only recently started to garner the attention of privacy advocates, thanks in part to Edward Snowden and his revelations about NSA spying.

DuckDuckGo does not collect any information on its users whatsoever none of their personal data, browsing history, or click-streams (i.e., everything Google tracks) which makes it a perfect option for those who are concerned with online privacy and want to take matters into their own hands.
The search engine may not be as well known as Google, Yahoo!, Bing, or others, but they have a growing number of followers who use the site because of how secure it is.

As the Google search engine is facing backlash from its users due to its privacy policies and is having complaints regarding the user’s privacy being stolen, the users have started to rely upon other secure search engines that don’t save their search history and sell it to other companies that can be used for marketing.

DuckDuckGo is said to be the best option for a search engine to the users who assume that their privacy is a critical component. As it doesn’t store the user’s search history of its users, they aren’t bothered by ads that are relatable and sometimes threatening.

DuckDuckGo promises its users to never compromise their private data, as other search engines are doing, they are so sure about their promise that on the main search page below their search field they have a quote stating that the user’s data won’t be “collected or would be shared to anyone else”.

DuckDuckGo’s search quality and speed

DuckDuckGo is not only good at upholding its privacy policies but is also good at searching the contents as it uses its DuckDuckBot, and up to 400 other sources to compile its search results, including other engines like Bing and Yahoo! In addition to crowdsourcing sites Wikipedia. Due to this DuckDuckGo’s search speed and quality is pretty good and is not as good as Google as DuckDuckGo doesn’t access its user’s personal data and their search history

Since there is an increase in the number of advertisements coming up while using the Google search engine users have believed that it is acting as a threat to their privacy.

Even though Google has been facing complaints the company still is the best search engine, but there is a rise in the number of users for DuckDuckGo which means, people are opting for security instead of experience which would be a positive growth toward data security that the company DuckDuckGo has started.
